Please join me in welcoming coach Robby to the CrossFit Hard family


Robby started Crossfit in high school in 2008 with a personal trainer who was helping him prepare for wrestling, football, and rugby.  After high school he attended the University of Tennessee.  There he played rugby and studied neuroscience.  Also, while in college, starting in late 2011/early 2012 Robby began coaching CrossFit.   Since then he has coached everything from CrossFit kids to barbell clubs to CrossFit "lite" classes for those not quite ready for a full class. 

Robby's absolute favorite components of the sport are weightlifting and gymnastics.  His absolute lease favorite is distance running.  He would rather work on heavy snatches for hours than run a 5K.  Outside of CrossFit Robby is currently  working towards his Masters in biotechnology at Johns Hopkins University. Robby is from Knoxvile, Tennessee so he loves to hike and fish and generally be outdoors. 


Favorite Workout:

King Kong:  heavy, short workouts with high-skill gymnastics movements are my wheelhouse!


When not doing CrossFit:

I love to spend time with my dog Luna and try to get outside.  Unfortunately now I spend more time studying than outdoors.

Double-Unders (Practice technique)

Some points include:
- Hands in front of torso
- Hands rotate from wrist
- Good up and down bounce
- Jump when rope is about to hit the ground
- Practice linked singles, alternating single and double unders, and then linked double unders
- Practice plyometric bounce with feet to develop the footwork/ jumping technique necessary for a double under
