In life, there are times that we’re faced things that truly do not matter.

Minuscule and unimportant, personal and professional…

These things might just drive you crazy; they may weigh on your conscious, but are they really worth the added stress?

For me, in the past, the small stuff (for whatever reason) held major weight. Things that truly didn’t matter…and that were sometimes even out my control consumed me.

Until I changed my outlook.

With a little more observation, insight, and forward thinking, I began to identify what was worth stressing over and what was not.

Here are some helpful concepts that I’m learning to use and practice in my everyday life. Internalize and apply these four concepts to become less stressed and more successful:

  • THINK – Take a moment, breathe, and then breathe again. Think about the issue at hand and what’s really causing you more stress. Contemplate how this situation will really affect your life. Consider the consequences and the possible outcomes of your dilemma. Have an internal dialogue with yourself to help authenticate the process, “Will raising my voice help me to get my way? Or will it just alienate the people around me?”

  • QUESTION – How will this incident truly affect me in the long run? Will my decision make an impression on more lives than just my own? Take it one step further than just thinking about it. Verbalize your thoughts and say them to yourself.  Having an internal dialogue is one thing…  Hearing yourself aloud can be a much more powerful tool in validating your thoughts…. Plus it just makes it that much more real.
  • REMIND – Tell yourself that this isn’t personal and stop acting like it’s the end of the world… Because it’s not. Reassure yourself that this too shall pass and there are worse things that could be happening to you. Being stuck behind that school bus on the way to the gym is not the end of the world.

  • LEARN – Find ways to cope with your stress and learn from your experiences. Remember, that without small failures, success wouldn’t taste as good. Recognize that just because things don’t go your way, it doesn’t mean the experience won’t be one of positivity.  Build momentum from small victories and remain optimistic, this too shall pass!

Ultimately focus on improving yourself, nurturing the relationships with your family & friends, mastering your trade, and becoming financially secure.

There's no need to sweat the small stuff.

Oh and just remember that…

You’re Awesome,
